Rango's Tower

When we knew we were going to be getting our new bed, and that it would be upholstered, we decided we need to do something about Rango.  His favorite place to scratch was at the corner of our base board on our old bed, but I was certainly not going to have that with our brand new one.  So we decided to cave and buy him a great big TOWER!  Now he spends most of his time on top of that and has for the most part stopped scratching everything else! Yah it’s a miracle!  Yes I am a crazy cat lady posting about my cat and now I’m going to be even crazier and post a bunch of pictures of him.  Lay off he’s my child okay? OKAY!  Leave me be haha.

Rango freaking out and hiding when we were arranging all the new furniture.

 loving the new tower!
I may or may not have sprayed it with cat nip....he went a bit crazy.

Getting Updated

I feel like I start every blog apologizing for being so behind…well today is no different.  Be prepared to be bombarded with an overwhelming amount of blog updates.  You see I’m over a month behind and this weekend we are picking up this little guy!

My sister is getting ready for her surgery, so we are going to watch him for a few weeks to help out.  I’m really excited, but I know things will be a little bit crazier around here once he arrives.  Because of that I’m trying to get as caught up as possible before hand.  Stay with me as I try to accomplish my mission of updating the entire blog in 1 day.

Since Evan is coming to stay with us we have been trying to get ready for him.  The less my sister has to pack the better, so we went and bought a few things to make life easier.

Can you tell I’m a little excited?  I can’t wait to go pick him up and I’m so happy I get to help out with my sisters surgery.

The last few weeks we have been working on adding character to our home.  Our new bed finally came and we finally were able to get it set up.  We had to do some maneuvering and rearranging to get it to fit, but we managed, and it’s be so nice having a new bed.  I’m not posting pictures yet, because I’m still working on the bedroom.  I’ll hopefully get moving on it soon and I’ll post pictures when I finish the room.

When we purchased the mattress it came with a few bedroom set.  Well when we picked out our bed frame it was a lot cheaper than the allowed credit, and we didn’t’ want all the rest of the furniture it came with.  This left us with a lot of credit so we tried to decided what we wanted to get.  I fell in love with some couches I saw and they were practically free, so we went for it.  I think the gray goes nicely with my update color scheme I did a few months back.

We also add a few other odds and ends around the house.

I’m happy to say I love how it’s coming along and it feels so homey.  Now we will probably end up moving right?  Of course that’s how it always happens, the minute you are settled, it’s time to move on.

Throw Back Thursday - 4th of July Weekend

So if you couldn’t tell by me only posting 4 times in July, I’m a little bit behind.  Even though I’m a bit late, we still had a fabulous 4th of July holiday.  Our friends Amber and Brent invited us over for a BBQ with a few other people from the ward/stake.  I made a pasta salad and a trifle.

I was pretty proud of the trifle if I do say so myself.   Its made with sugar free angel food cake, sugar free pudding, fat free whip cream, fat free cream cheese, and fruit.  It was nice to be able to eat a dessert and get the sweetness without going completely off my diet.  It was so much fun to chat with some new people and meet some other members around Midland.  We had some delicious food, fun chats and Amber even had a fun painting activity for the kids……or maybe I participated too?  Heck who says it was just for kids!  We got to see a few fireworks from a distance, so we were able to cross that off our check list.  The hubs and I went home and spent the rest of the night relaxing with some Alias!  Yah that’s right we're awesome I know!

The next day we were house sitting for my Aunt and Uncle and they said we could use their pool.  Well with how hot it has been of course we jumped on that opportunity.  Amber, Brent and their daughter Miki came over for some yummy kabobs and swimming.

We brought our new NINJA blender and had some fun making “mock-tails” with dinner.

The pool was still a little cold because of how windy it ended up being, so we had more fun chilling in the hot tub!

It was still nice to get some sun on these pasty whites.

Even though we were missing family, we still had a wonderful 4th of July weekend, and loved being able to spend time with friends.

Throw Back Thursday - Houston

In my attempts to catch up I realized how many things I missed, and I'm going through my phone and seeing all the wonderful photos I have captured the last month or two that are worth sharing.

Several weeks ago my sister hit a pretty bad low in this Cancer trial and I just couldn’t stand not being there to help.  Due to some amazing people organizing it I was able to get on a plane THAT NIGHT and head to Houston to be with her.  So many people helped orchestrate it, especially my Aunt and I’m so grateful.  My wonderful work let me go, my amazing husband packed for me and so many people helped fund the trip and it meant so much to me.  I’m so glad I got to be with my sister for the weekend and spend time with her.  It was actually an awesome experience because her husband and kids were gone most of the days.  Now don’t get me wrong I love my nephews and brother in law, but I don’t remember the last time I had several days of alone/girl time with just my sister, and it was AWESOME!  It’s so amazing to see her getting better now and bouncing back from such a low, and I’m so glad I was able to come and help out at the time and hopefully help her get some of her energy back.

My nephews were there the first day I was and it was so fun to play with them in the back yard.  My favorite was coming out and seeing them turn a box into a swimming pool!  I love these boys so much, and am grateful to live in Texas so that we get to see them more often!

We also couldn’t break tradition of getting lots done when this duo gets together.  Even with Mel being so sick, it wasn’t going to stop us!  In one day I got the entire garage done.  I built some new shelves and re-organized the bins!  I would say it’s looking pretty darn good too.  We also got some curtains hung!  Mel and I are an awesome team, and I love how productive we are when we are together!
