Valentines Day

For Valentines Day Eric and I had told each other we weren't going to do anything big or get presents and that we would just celebrate on the weekend.  So my Grandma invited us over for dinner and that was our plan.  Of course Eric had surprised me with flowers at the apartment, and I decorated our bedroom and got him some of his favorite goodies.  I guess we are just big liars huh!

After we got home we did have some desert of yummy strawberries and chocolate!  Oh OH delicious!

That weekend we went and saw Shrek the musical at the Midland Community Theater.  I saw it on Broadway a few years ago but Eric had never seen it. For community theater they did an excellent job.  It was really well done and very funny!  It made me want to head back to New York like now!!! Ha ha maybe some day soon we can plan a trip there.  It was a very fun evening and weekend.  When I got home Eric surprised me with some white gold and blue topaz jewelry.

Not only my birth stone, but also my favorite color!  What a guy gotta love him!  Well folks I hope you all enjoyed your valentines day as well!

Ready for Guests!

So my friend from Midland gave us their spare bedroom furniture when they were moving back to Utah.  I finally got the extra room cleaned and organized enough to get it set up.  Sadly I don't have any before pictures!  I wish I did because it was BAD!  Well I do have some before pictures from when we first moved in.  It won't show how dirty and cluttered I let it get, but it will at least show you how the room looked before.

The not so organized closet layout, and remember this is a picture from well over a year ago so just imagine what got misplaced and added to this place.  It was so aw-ful!
And the rest of our boring room that we just put everything we didn't know what to do with in.

And here is the room set up now.

it may not look that organized from this picture, but seriously compared to what it was, it is awesome!  I took hours to get it all super organized and I love all the pretty boxes I found at target to use!

I found this lamp at Home Goods and just fell in love!! I adore it!

Our entire apartment doesn't have closet doors, so I decided to hang a shower curtain rod and some curtains so that we could close the closet off and make it look a bit nicer when we wanted to.

I still have plans to paint the bed and the side table.  I was going to do it before I set it up, but it was taking up so much room so I just went ahead and did it.  In a previous post I already wrote about some ideas I had for the headboard.  I still  haven't made any decisions but I'm pretty sure I have decided I want to paint the furniture white like this

I'll probably end up doing more of an off white or cream rather than this bright white.

I really like these headboard ideas too!

Now I'm still figuring out what to do on the rest of the wall.

the wall just seems way to empty.  If I paint the bed frame I'll probably paint the wood on the mirror as well because the dark wood wont work as much!  I might paint it the matching blue from the bedspread!  I have found a few cheap ideas on Pinterest I really like for different ideas on the wall.

Just a canvas with cut fabric modpodged on,

I could do just a collage of random framed printables.

Anyways those are a few ideas.  I can't really decide!  Do you guys have any ideas? I would love to hear any votes of what I could do!

I'll have to post later once I completely refinish it!  Anyways peeps we are now open for business and ready for lots and lots of visitors!!! You would even have your own bathroom ;) call to make your reservations haha!.

Houston

A few weeks ago I was able to go to Houston to spend some time with my sister and help with her family while she is going through chemo.  I was able to get there the tail end of my mothers visit so I got to see her for a little bit which was nice.  It was so nice to finally go down and be able to be with my sister.  I felt so useless being far away and just wanted to be with her and help anyway I could through this process.  It was so fun to see my nephews and get to play with them all week.  I know I'm bias but seriously they are the best boys ever!  My sister is such a good Mom and has done such a good job with them!  I loved every minute of being able to spend time with them.

Tuesday I got to stay home with the boys by myself while Mel went to chemo!  Ryan (little Po as we like to call him), Evan and I got to have fun day together.  We did some baths got dressed and had fun running around the house.  Evan went down for his first nap and that left Po and I to fend for ourselves!!!

I kept saying to keep his eyes open for a picture and he kept doing a cute fluttering with his eyes, which = in ZERO pictures with his eye open.  Haha love this boy!

Attack of the Ryan!

After some fun taking pictures and coloring we headed outside to play on the new play set they got!

Baby Evan decided to wake up from his nap and come join all the fun!

Pretty soon it was time for another nap time and they Kyle got home from school and we were able to play on the play set cookie factory for a bit till Mommy got home from Chemo.

This was just one day in the fun filled week I had!  I can't wait to go back and be with them again!

Devon's Baby Shower

Several weeks ago I was hired to do a baby shower for the daughter of someone I work for.  The theme was Ready to POP!  I had sooo much fun coming up with the plans and the details for this shower!  I think it turned out really cute and I was so proud of the finished product!  I put a lot of sweat and tears into details and I hope that Devon enjoyed it as much as I did!  I wish I had better pictures, but unlike every other girl on this planet nowadays I am NOT a photographer.  So you get to see my crappy amateur photos that don't do the party justice haha.
The sign in table

The sign says "Devon is ready to POP!"

I made a bunch of these balloon topiaries to have around.

Did the book Hop on Pop as the sign in book.
We did devotional diapers the sign says "Leave a funny not or a favorite quote. Anything to bring a smile to Devon's face and to help during the late night diaper changes."

We also did a raffle and anyone who brought a pack of diapers was entered to win a prize.

This was before the party even started and look at those presents already!

The sing on the fireplace says "gifts"

We had a hair bow making station.

The sign says "Thanks for stopping by!"

The favors

I made chocolate baby bottle pops!

The favors also had these mini blow pops.

The food room. Sorry the lighting is so bad in these pictures.

Sadly I didn't get a picture with all the food out because it all got eaten so fast.

The prizes.

"Things That Pop!"

Drinks.  She wanted to have a hot chocolate/coffee bar, so that's what I did.  Then we had water on the right and soda POP!

Fruit POPS

The diaper cake I made.

Cake pops!  Half of them were white cake and half were strawberry cake and pink on the inside yum!

Jalapeno poppers

I had a savory POPcorn and a sweet POPcorn.  Garlic Parmesan and Cinnamon and sugar.

Tip: the colored circle banner is out of paint color samples from Home Depot. It's so easy and FREE.  All I did was punch them out and then sew them together! A cheap and quick way to give a pop of color!
The butt load of invites I did.  We ended up sending out 150!!!! let me repeat, 150!!! It made me nervous because I had no idea how many to expect since no one RSVP.  I was pleasantly surprised by how many people showed up!! There were a ton of people there!!
the invite and the diaper raffle insert. I designed them both myself.  The diaper raffle insert says "bring a pack of diapers (any size) and be entered to win a fabulous prize."

I got a picture right before they were all gone, but these are cheesecake poppers! SO yummy

I wish I had pictures of the rest of the food, but I just wasn't quick enough.  For the full menu we had veggie pops (i just had an assortment of veggies on skewers and roasted them YUM), fruit pops, cheese popovers, two types of popcorn, jalapeno poppers, cake pops, and cheesecake poppers.

I made a balloon wreath for the party with a banner that says "Devon's Baby Shower"  It was hanging on the front door as guests walked in.
